Hi friends,
Yesterday I took a day trip to Saskatoon to see a women’s health specialist.
I had been waiting for that appointment for two and a half years.
And while I hoped I might leave with a new idea or a new tool, what I didn’t expect was how emotional I would feel simply being in the room with someone who actually listened.
I had no idea how much energy I had been using to carry this.
For the last two and a half years, I’ve been navigating a really uncomfortable body experience that began when I started menopause. It hasn’t been a 24/7 kind of pain, but it has been present every single day in one way or another. And when something is not constant, it can be surprisingly easy to normalize it, accommodate it, work around it, and keep going.
From the outside, I look great.
And truthfully, in many ways, I am great.😉
But on the inside, I didn’t realize how much holding was happening.
How much bracing.
How much managing.
How much energy was going toward simply living with something that didn’t feel right.
And then yesterday, I sat across from a doctor who was kind, present, unhurried, and deeply human.
She looked me in the eyes.
She listened.
She didn’t rush me.
She didn’t dismiss me.
She stayed.
And something in me softened.
It’s amazing what can happen when your body realizes it does not have to fight to be believed.
I left that appointment with something practical to try, yes.
But more than that, I left feeling less alone.
Less burdened.
Less like I had to hold all of this by myself.
Sometimes what changes us is not only the solution.
Sometimes it’s the experience of finally being met.
That’s what yesterday gave me.
And this morning I’m feeling tender, grateful, and honestly a little in awe of how much we can carry without even knowing we’re carrying it.
If you’ve been holding something quietly — pain, confusion, exhaustion, uncertainty — I just want to say this:
You are not weak for feeling the weight of it.
And you are not asking for too much by wanting to be heard.
Love on. Shine on. Joy on.
xoxo Christine
