What Would Love Do?

Hi Reader

So much has moved this past month. And now, September begins.

I’m currently coming to the end of a chest and head cold. At the same time cat allergies - as I have a mama cat and 3 little kittens currently in my front porch. They moved there last night, with the help of a dear friend Robynne (who is definitely a cat whisperer).

I went to mow my lawn last week, walked into my garage, and found a family living there. A mama cat - protective of her babies greeted me. I couldn't get close to them at all. They all scurried and hid in different parts of my garage. The mama standing front and centre very curious to see what I would do.

I sent her love and kindness. I told her I was here to help her and her babies. I sent her golden light. I gave her time and space. I called my mom - asked her for tips and tricks. I gave them cut up bread soaked in milk. I even for the first time in my life bought cat food.

For a small moment I was "cat lady-ish".

I would check on them throughout the day. I would watch them romp around joyfully in my backyard. I encouraged them to stay in the garage, but it is hard to herd kittens.

My garage is a 1910 version, so the door doesn't close well. It is easy to come and go even if the door is "closed". And obviously makes a great home for a young mama cat to have her kittens.

Over the past 4 days, the mama and I have connected. I have been able to pet the little babies - all but one who is very hesitant. And I have been witness to mama love and new life and a new relationship with all of us.

Relationships take time, and they rarely move in a straight line. Expectations are often met with disappointment. We all need our own space and time to know ourselves, and get to know each other. And perhaps there is also compromise and collaboration.

Yesterday I came home to find no mama cat and no kittens in my garage, or anywhere nearby. They were gone all day.

I wondered if the mama knew that I found a home for all of them; on a ranch nearby with 2 little kids and a heated barn and horses and a family ready to welcome them. Maybe mama felt the rain coming. But something was different yesterday. They were all gone. All day. I was worried.

Late in the evening we found them. Robynne (the cat whisperer) and I found them hiding safely under old lumber and deadwood in my neighbours yard. We tried enticing them back with delicious sexy cat food - but only the mama returned. And slowly with the help of my neighbour, we encouraged them back. It felt like a rescue. And then came the "welcome to my house" moment, and making my front porch a home for them for the next 24 hours.

It was all new. CHANGE is like that. There were elements of curiosity, uncertainty, hope, what ifs, and yes let's. It was more joyful to create this together.

And now as I write this, the mama cat is sitting in her make shift cat bed, with one of her babies, nibbling her mama's ear, while the other 2 kittens are playing with each other on top of my meditation chair. All in the sunroom entrance to my home.

Everyone in the house, now has to enter through the backdoor, as the front door is off limits. It is now a home of a mama and her kittens. I get to watch it all from my living room.

If you are moving through big choices, changes, or challenges today, I invite you to ask: What would love do?

It is a question that opened a weekend of small miracles for me.

You do not need a garage full of kittens to ask it. What if every choice—yes, no, or maybe—came from a place of love? Perhaps then the choice becomes a greater gift for everyone.

Blessings, my friend.
From my heart to yours, I love you.

Shine on,
Christine

P.S. Mama cat and her three kittens are scheduled to be picked up later today. I’ll keep you posted. Until then, here are a few photos to bring a little love, light, and sunshine to your day.
